Geoparks Italy

Italy is well represented on the international scene with ten recognized Geoparks in the European Network and Global Network under the auspices of UNESCO.

The role that the Italian Geoparks currently play within the EGN and GGN networks is particularly significant, not only for the very large number of countries involved, but also for the quality that the same territories represent at a national and international level.

A strong and authoritative testimony, although by no means exhaustive, of the fantastic geological heritage of our country. A prestigious award that the ten Geoparks achieved by building on their territories innovative management strategies, in which the geoconservation, together with the resulting educational activities, dissemination and fruition, are able to trigger a virtuous circle for sustainable development, a process of retraining and attentive territorial development to respect local cultures, but synergistically projected towards a new model of use of the same territory.
